Speaking at the reception, Mr Atkinson said it was important for the Victorian Parliament to recognise the significant contribution local government representatives are making to the development of Victoria.
He said the reception was an opportunity to express the parliament’s gratitude for the work being done at local government level and for local leaders to meet with parliamentarians to discuss some of the key issues confronting local communities.
Minister for Local Government Natalie Hutchins, Shadow Minister David Davis and Greens spokesperson Samantha Dunn also offered their thanks, taking the opportunity to speak about local government legislation currently being debated in parliament.
