Always something interesting at Open Day

We are opening the doors of Parliament House this Sunday 6 March for a very special Open Day from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.

There will be lots to see and do as we celebrate the 160th anniversary of the Victorian Parliament. and the 150th anniversary of our Hansard service.

If you are interested in architecture, art, democracy, history or gardens, one of Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks can offer you all of that and more.

Special displays about the Victorian Parliament will feature throughout the building, with the opportunity to try out a seat in the parliamentary chambers.

You will also see historic treasures such as the Legislative Assembly’s Mace and the Legislative Council’s Black Rod.

Joining us with a range of interesting displays will be the Public Record Office Victoria, the Victorian Ombudsman, the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission, and the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka.

There will be entertainment and refreshments as well.

It’s a day for the whole community and entry is free.
