Creating vaccines at pandemic speed for COVID-19

Professor Trent Munro from The University of Queensland has spoken about vaccines for COVID-19 at our Parliamentary Library’s first public webinar.

Held on 22 September 2020 and titled ‘Creating vaccines at pandemic speed for COVID-19’, the webinar was conducted in association with Victorian Parliamentarians for STEM.

Professor Munro is a biotechnology and biopharmaceutical professional with extensive experience in the development of a wide array of biological and synthetic therapeutic modalities.

He is currently a Senior Group Leader at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), at The University of Queensland, where he is Director of the NCRIS-funded National Biologics Facility and Program Director for the Vaccine Rapid Response pipeline funded by the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). In this role he has been part of the UQ team developing a clinical stage vaccine candidate for COVID-19.
