More than 100 submissions have been received so far for the Victorian parliamentary inquiry into end of life choices.

The inquiry is being conducted by the Legal and Social Issues Committee, which has invited submissions addressing the terms of reference by 31 July 2015.

164 years of separation


On 1 July 1851 Victoria officially separated from New South Wales.

That momentous event has been recognised in the Victorian Parliament by Speaker Telmo Languiller, who acknowledged the164th anniversary of separation in a statement to the Legislative Assembly.

Youth Parliament 2015 opened


The 2015 YMCA Victoria Youth Parliament has been opened at Parliament House in Melbourne.

Celebrating its 29th anniversary, the Youth Parliament is being held from 29 June to 2 July, with more than 100 participants from metropolitan and regional areas.

Committee to inquire into new planning Bill

Planning Bill

The Victorian Parliament’s Environment and Planning Committee is seeking input into an inquiry on the Planning and Environment Amendment (Recognising Objectors) Bill 2015.

The Bill proposes to amend the Planning and Environment Act 1987 so VCAT or the planning authority will consider the number of objectors and the effect of these proposed changes when determining if a proposal has a significant social effect.

Interim report presented on Fiskville inquiry

An interim report on the CFA training college at Fiskville has been presented to the Victorian Parliament by the Environment, Natural Resources and Regional Development Committee.

In the interim report, the Committee has made three recommendations for action now.
