Victorian parliamentarians have received commemorative plaques from the Australian Turkish community to honour the Gallipoli Centenary.

The commemorative plaques feature Atatürk’s Ode – the renowned tribute from the first President of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk honouring the Anzacs killed at Gallipoli.

Joint sitting appoints new Council member

Melina Bath has been appointed a member of the Legislative Council at a joint sitting of the Victorian Parliament.

The vacancy was created when Danny O'Brien resigned his Legislative Council seat representing Eastern Victoria to contest the by-election for the Legislative Assembly seat of Gippsland South, which he won.

Support for Fiji Parliamentary Library

Victoria's Parliamentary Librarian, Carolyn Macvean, will undertake a one week mission to Fiji to help develop its parliamentary library.

The library project is part of an international capacity building program for the new Fiji Parliament following its reestablishment at the end of last year.
