Parliamentary interns

Thirty-four students from three Victorian universities have been selected for internships at the Victorian Parliament in 2015.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the parliamentary internship program provides each student with the opportunity to prepare a research report on a topic that is chosen in consultation with a Member of Parliament.

Grand Prix 1

Victoria's iconic Parliament House has provided the perfect backdrop for a preview of the 2015 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix being held from 12 to 15 March.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Telmo Languiller and President of the Legislative Council Bruce Atkinson joined Victorian Sports Minister John Eren, Australian Grand Prix Corporation Chairman Ron Walker and CEO Andrew Westacott to welcome Grand Prix Ambassador Elyse Knowles as she roared up Spring Street to the front steps of Parliament House in a Formula 1 racing car.

Historic agreement with Fiji Parliament

An historic agreement has been signed between the Fiji and Victorian Parliaments during a visit to Melbourne by a parliamentary delegation from Fiji.

The Parliamentary Partnership Agreement was signed by the Presiding Officers of the Victorian Parliament, Bruce Atkinson and Telmo Languiller, and the Speaker of the Fiji Parliament, Dr Jiko Luveni, who led the delegation’s visit to Australia.

Salute for 48 years of service

Electrician Yiannis Tremoulas has received a special parliamentary tribute for 48 years of service at Victoria’s Parliament House.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Telmo Languiller and President of the Legislative Council Bruce Atkinson recognised the work and achievements of Mr Tremoulas during sittings of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council attended by the retiring Department of Parliamentary Services employee.
