Question on Notice

Mr Bull (Gippsland East) to ask the Minister for Roads and Road Safety — A deep pothole on the Paynesville Road has caused significant damage to many vehicles. Locals say it has had temporary repairs on six occasions but no permanent fix. All attempts have failed within weeks, if not days. Unfortunately, this is just one of many examples with locations on the Great Alpine Road and Monaro Highway having temporary traffic hazard signs up for over eight months. Many vehicles have been damaged and Regional Roads Victoria takes no responsibility if it is temporarily fixed within a certain timeframe and signs are erected.

(1) How many claims of vehicle damage were received by VicRoads:

(a) in the 2021–22 financial year;
(b) in 2022 to date.

(2) Is this an increase in the number of claims in previous years.

(3) How many times do contractors need to return to the same failure before a determination is made for a more robust rectification works program.
