Question on Notice
Dr Read to ask the Minister for Roads and Road Safety — When will the closed section of the Upfield shared path near Jewell train station be reopened for bicycles and pedestrians.
- Answered: 23 November 2021
The Upfield shared user path near Jewell Station was closed to enable works to be undertaken by VicTrack to redevelop the Jewell station precinct and refurbish the heritage listed station building.
I am advised by VicTrack that the section of the Upfield shared user path through the Jewell Station precinct re-opened on 21 September 2021.
I am also advised that there are some works that will take place in the station precinct later in the year, closer to project completion.
I acknowledge the redevelopment works and the closure of the bike path has inconvenienced cycle path users and local stakeholders. However, when complete the redevelopment will demonstrate the significant many benefits that developing our station precincts for a range of purposes, including residential, commercial and community.
