Constituency QuestionMs Spence to ask the Minister for Education — My constituency question is to the Minister for Education. What is the latest information that the minister can provide on the proposed Greenvale north-west primary school, including how residents will benefit from this new school and the adjacent Greenvale West Integrated Children's Centre? Greenvale north-west primary is one of six new schools being delivered in the Yuroke electorate over this term by the Andrews Labor government, and local residents are certainly very excited about the rollout of this massive investment. These new schools will help cater for significant growth in recent years, including in the northern part of Greenvale. With many young families now calling Greenvale home, the new primary school and early learning centre are very welcome additions to the local community. I am sure that many Greenvale families would be interested in hearing from the minister, and I look forward to sharing his response with them.

I would like to thank the Member for Yuroke for her interest in the proposed Greenvale North West Primary School and neighbouring Greenvale West Integrated Children's Centre.
The Andrews Labor Government is committed to delivering 100 new Schools by 2026. As part of the New Schools Program, Greenvale North West Primary School will be constructed and opened by Term 1, 2021.
Greenvale North West Primary School is a supported inclusion school and will cater for 525 students. The inclusive facilities have been designed to allow integrated education for students with disabilities. The school will provide these students with greater opportunities to engage with their wider peer group and enhance professional collaboration between special education and mainstream staff, which will build excellence in tailored teaching and learning for all students.
The facilities include an administration building with a library resource area and two learning neighbourhood buildings with flexible spaces for a variety of different learning activities. The school will also have a performing arts and physical education building with a competition-grade, indoor court that has the potential to be used by the community after hours. Outdoor facilities include a variety of open play spaces, such as a green, open space and two multipurpose hardcourts.
Hume City Council are delivering an Integrated Community Centre, adjacent to the Greenvale North West Primary School site. This facility will deliver two kindergarten rooms, an additional multipurpose kindergarten room, a maternal and child health services consulting room and waiting area, a specialist consulting room for early intervention services, and a multipurpose activity room that can accommodate playgroups, new parent groups, planned activity groups, meetings, and training. The centre will also be available as a hub for the community, where activities and events can be held for residents new to the area.
The Government is committed to providing high quality, early-years programs to give every child the best start in life. As part of the 2017-18 Children's Facilities Capital Program, $1.6 million was allocated to the project. The Integrated Community Centre project is currently under construction and is forecast to be completed in mid-2020. I encourage the local community to contact local council for further information on when enrolments for this important community facility will commence.
The Hon James Merlino MP
Minister for Education
