The Victorian Government recognises the impact the COVID crisis has had on school service providers.
Over the course of the pandemic, the Victorian Government has provided more than $11 billion in direct financial support for eligible Victorian businesses. Since late July 2021, the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments have joined forces to allocate more than $6.6 billion to help Victorian businesses remain viable through lockdown, with grants and automatic payments to help cover wages, rent, utilities and other costs.
All Victorian schools have been able to hold camps from 3 November 2021 as part of Victoria’s Roadmap to deliver Phase C of the National Plan. This phase of the National Plan has also informed the business support available for all Victorian businesses.
Prior to phase C of the National Plan, eligible businesses, including school camp operators, in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria that remained closed or heavily restricted were eligible for payments under Business Costs Assistance Program (BCAP). BCAP provided automatic payments ranging from $1,000 to $8,400 per week according to payroll.
I understand that Coonawarra Farm Resort has received $103,875 in assistance from Victorian Government business support programs including the BCAP and the Regional Tourism Support Package.
Eligible workers, microbusinesses and sole traders who lost work and do not qualify for Victorian Government support programs may still be able to access the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 Disaster Payment.
Small businesses, including school camp providers, can continue to access a range of mentoring and capability building support programs, including:
• The Business Recovery and Resilience Mentoring program is available to help small businesses navigate the economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The Partners in Wellbeing helpline provides free confidential, professional advice and wellbeing support for business owners seven days a week.
Further information on all Victorian Government business supports is available at business.vic.gov.au or by calling the Business Victoria hotline on 13 22 15.
