Answered: 8 November 2019

I am informed that:

Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) is an intensive therapeutic foster care model being tested in the South division. It is a 6-12 month program that aims to place children and young people who have been in, or are at risk of, residential care into long term family, kinship or foster care placements.

From April 2017 until February 2019, two TFCO programs were funded with an expectation of supporting 7 children or young people at any point in time (14 in total). These targets have been exceeded.

The number of children placed with a TFCO carer in Victoria during the:

(1) 2016/17 year was 5; (3 months of operation)

(2) 2017/18 year was 17;

(3) 2018/19 year was 17; and,

(4) 2019/20 year to date is 8
