Inquiry into student pathways to in-demand industries
Accepting submissions
On 20 May 2025, the Legislative Assembly agreed to the following motion:
That this House refers an inquiry into how students can be better supported with advice and pathways for jobs in in-demand industries, including through TAFE and other vocational routes to the Economy and Infrastructure Standing Committee for consideration and report no later than 30 September 2026.
Snapshot of inquiry
Our Committee is looking at how to guide and support students to pursue employment in industries that are in demand, such as health care, social assistance and construction, among others.
We will examine pathways into vocational education and training and higher education, how well school career development is meeting the needs of students and industry, and how to better support regional students, female students wanting to work in male-dominated industries and students facing disadvantage to pursue pathways into in-demand industries.
Submissions can be made online until 1 August 2025.
