Not only did you create history, becoming the first Sri Lankan-born member of Parliament, you were considered a champion for freedom, a symbol of hope for emerging South Asian communities. I had the honour to first meet Jude Perera around 2016, around the time of his advocacy for Little India in Dandenong. He was a quiet man, a man who was soft-spoken but with a very big heart and a champion for our multiculturalism in Victoria. It is a great loss for us all. Vale, Jude Perera.
