New flag poles for Parliament House

On Saturday 16 January two additional flag poles will be installed on top of Parliament House.

The installation will mean no flags will be flying on Parliament House on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January.

The new flag poles will allow for additional flags to be flown on special occasions, such as the United Nations Flag on United Nations Day.

Currently three flags are flown permanently on the top of Parliament House: the Australian Flag, the Victorian Flag and the Australian Aboriginal Flag.

The additional flag poles will ensure all of the permanent flags can continue to be flown on special days when other flags are hoisted temporarily to the top of Parliament House.

The three permanent flags will be flown again from Monday 18 January following completion of the installation.
