Echuca Regional Sitting
With a range of events throughout the week and a unique chamber experience at the Echuca Library, the Legislative Council was grateful for the opportunity to spend time in this community.
See photos below and read more about what the day involved.
2024 Regional Sitting
Planned in a mark of solidarity with the flood-affected region of Northern Victoria, The Legislative Council will be holding a parliamentary sitting on Thursday 18th April in Echuca.
The sitting will be held at the Echuca Library and streamed live on the Parliament’s website.
As well the sitting, a range of other events will be held in the week, giving community members opportunity to engage with Legislative Council MPs and staff.
Watch Parliament in Action
All are welcome to come and sit in the public gallery to watch as the Members of the Legislative Council proceed with the business of the day.
The day will start at 9am with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country on the lawn outside the library. The sitting day will commence at 9.30am.
If you would like to attend, come to the front door of the library for security screening. Please bring photo ID such as a driver’s licence or passport.
If the public gallery is full you may be asked to wait until seats become available.
Legislative Council Regional Sitting
Our community engagement team will be running events with schools in the area, learning about our state’s parliamentary processes.
A Farmer’s Market will be held, showcasing to MPs the best of the region’s craft and produce – and providing an opportunity to meet with these small businesses who have been through recent hardship.
Local council members, schools and other community members will be invited to attend the sitting and watch from the public gallery.
Both the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly have previously held Regional Sitting events, most recently in 2021 and 2012 respectively.
