Teachers welcomed to Parliament House

This event was an opportunity for teachers to familiarise themselves with some of the significant spaces inside Parliament House, to talk with staff from across the organisation, and hear about the programs and resources we have available to support the teaching of civics and citizenship.

Parliament staff were on hand, from our outreach, engagement, heritage and library teams, to share their insights with teachers and chat about the many and varied ways that students can engage with the work of their state parliament.

Preservice teachers and teachers from primary to pre-tertiary learning levels were keen to hear about the student experiences available at Parliament House and the incursions delivered by parliament staff across the state. With many already thinking ahead to planning for 2023, it was also an opportunity to introduce teachers to a suite of new resources that explore concepts around legislation, law reform and student voice.

The first event of its kind to be delivered by the parliament, teachers were very appreciative and enthusiastic about recommending future events to their colleagues.
