Martin Cameron to ask the Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs — 

With reference to a $2.3 billion investment by the Japanese Government to commercialise a coal-to-hydrogen plant in Victoria, set to create over 500 ongoing jobs in the Latrobe Valley. The new Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain project (HESC) provides career pathways for coal mining and power workers facing displacement and a viable new industry to support the economic transition of the Latrobe Valley.

(1) What is the current approval status of this project.

(2) Will the Minister commit to fast-tracking the commercialisation of the HESC project, given its critical role in creating new jobs and securing the Latrobe Valley.

(3) When will the Minister bring the HESC project to Cabinet for consideration.

The Victorian Government is working with the project proponents and the Australian Government to further assess the commercial, technical and environmental feasibility of the project.
