Answer
Answered: 7 December 2019

I am informed that as of 30 June 2019, there were more than 2,000 child protection practitioners employed by the Department of Health and Human Services. This is the highest number ever recorded in Victoria, and an increase of more than 650 since the Andrews Labor Government came to power.

As a direct result of this increase, an additional 5,700 children have been allocated a dedicated child protection practitioner.

The numbers of child protection practitioners by division were:

(1) West Division - 555.6

(2) North Division - 463.3

(3) East Division - 345.7

(4) South Division - 612.2

(5) Central (after hours) - 100.8

Total Full Time Equivalent positions (CPP2-CPP6) across Operational Divisions: 2077.6

Hon Luke Donnellan MP
