Committees in focus

Join us to hear about the vital work Committees do to improve Victoria’s laws and social programs.

The Legislative Council’s Legal and Social Issues Committee has had an incredibly busy term of parliament. The Committee has already held eight inquiries and is wrapping up two more to be tabled in the next month.

Join us as we meet the Committee Chair Fiona Patten, Deputy Chair Tien Kieu and Committee Member Cathrine Burnett-Wake to hear about their work inquiring into a range of legal and social issues facing Victorians, including homelessness, cannabis use, the criminal justice system, children of incarcerated parents and firearms prohibition legislation.

We’ll talk about how the Committee approaches its work, what impact it has and how legal and social reform can improve our state.

And we’ll give you a chance to ask questions.
