What was the inquiry about?

This inquiry looked at the conduct of the 2018 Victorian election. The Committee considered people's views on how the election was conducted and suggestions on how things could be improved. Issues examined include enrolling, being a candidate and voting.

 

What is the inquiry up to now?

The final report has been tabled and the government has responded to the recommendations in the report. The reports are available on the Report tab.

Terms of reference

The terms of reference are instructions which explain what a committee has been asked to do, what topics it should focus on, and how its members will work together to achieve its shared goals.

On 28 May 2019, the Legislative Assembly agreed to the following motion:

That this House refers an inquiry into the conduct of the 2018 Victorian State Election to the Electoral Matters Committee for consideration and report no later than 1 June 2020.  

* The reporting date for this inquiry has been extended from 1 June 2020 to 31 August 2020.
