Terms of reference
The terms of reference are instructions which explain what a committee has been asked to do, what topics it should focus on, and how its members will work together to achieve its shared goals.
The Parliamentary Drugs and Crime Prevention Committee has been directed to inquire into, consider and report to the Parliament on:
- The extent and nature of fraud and white collar-crime in Victoria
- The impact of new technology supporting e-commerce on the opportunities for fraud;
- The current and proposed state, commonwealth and international strategies and initiatives in relation to dealing with fraud and white-collar crime, and
- The need for policy and legislative reform to combat fraud and white-collar crime in Victoria.
In particular, the Committee has been asked to focus on emerging trends and best practices responses to instances of fraud involving electronic commerce.
