Luba GRIGOROVITCH (Kororoit) (14:50): (1081) My question this afternoon is for the Minister for Environment. What action is the government taking to protect existing tree cover, increase urban greening and ensure sustainable development across Melbourne’s west? Last week I had the great pleasure of visiting the year 6 students at Aintree Primary School as part of their studies on government and its role in shaping our communities. After spending the term learning about how government works, these engaged and very thoughtful young students took the opportunity to ask insightful questions about issues that matter to them. One of their biggest concerns was the environment. The students spoke passionately about the importance of trees and clean air, supporting biodiversity and maintaining a healthy environment for future generations. They are deeply worried about the effects of increasing development in Melbourne’s west and want to understand what steps this government is taking to ensure that green spaces are protected and expanded. It was truly inspiring to hear from the students at Aintree Primary School. This generation is one that we should be proud of.
