South-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Given the recent 42 per cent increase in WorkCover premiums for Victorian businesses, leading to concerns about businesses leaving the state and the closure of business in the South-Eastern Metropolitan Region that I represent, my question to the minister relates to the government’s assessment of the potential impact on tax revenue and the broader economy. Business groups in the south-east and I would like to know what measures the government has taken or plans to take in the south-east to assess the potential loss of tax revenue resulting from businesses downsizing, relocating or closing down due to increased WorkCover premiums, payroll tax and other taxes.
