 Gaelle BROAD (Northern Victoria) (12:53): (643) My question is to the Premier, who is the former Minister for Commonwealth Games Delivery. On 18 July 2023 the Labor state government announced it had cancelled plans to host the Commonwealth Games. I met with sports groups, businesses and school students who were all disappointed by the government’s decision. It has been six months since the games were cancelled, and regional towns like Bendigo are still waiting for news of local projects. How much of the $2.6 billion allocated to deliver the Commonwealth Games has been spent on legacy projects in regional areas, and when will works on promised projects like the Bendigo showgrounds be completed?
