Richard WELCH (North-Eastern Metropolitan) (14:07): My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. Many constituents in my electorate in Mill Park and Bundoora have written to me about the state of Plenty Road, Bundoora. Outside the regular potholes that plague roads across Victoria, the Bundoora section of Plenty Road has been independently rated as Melbourne’s most dangerous road. We see an urban planners’ nightmare of confusing traffic lights and intersections, and roadside maintenance is non-existent with high grass obstructing sight lines. It is, sadly, only a matter of time before we see another fatality on this road. Victorians deserve better, and as we often say, one fatality on our roads is too many. Thus my question to the minister is: have you been briefed on the traffic situation on Plenty Road, Bundoora, and if so, why has there been no action from the government to fix Melbourne’s most dangerous road?
