Renee HEATH (Eastern Victoria) (12:55): My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. People in Lang Lang are extremely concerned about the dangerous volume and speed of heavy vehicles, particularly B-double sand trucks travelling across the town’s main centre. Until the bypass is constructed, these narrow roads remain high-risk zones for both drivers and pedestrians. The community and local councillors have requested a reduction in the limit from 60 to 40 kilometres per hour, but the Allan Labor government’s Department of Transport and Planning have declined this request, citing technical guidelines and freight efficiency concerns. Given the serious safety risks involved, will the minister urgently review the current speed zoning criteria and take action and prioritise pedestrian safety in Lang Lang’s main street?
