Bowl Parkinson’s Over
Will FOWLES (Ringwood) (10:13): I rise today to share my experience at the recent Bowl Parkinson’s Over charity lawn bowls event hosted by the mighty Heathmont Bowls Club. Fortunately the early rain did not dampen our spirits as 42 teams of 126 competitors came from over 20 clubs to join in this very worthy cause. Parkinson’s is a truly devastating disease that has touched too many people. Fifty Australians are diagnosed with the disease every single day, and that is why the work of the Shake It Up foundation is so important. It was truly inspiring to witness such community solidarity dedicated to raising vital funds for those affected by Parkinson’s disease. A special thankyou to Rob Ruffle for organising the day on behalf of the Shake It Up foundation, which has raised over $30 million for Parkinson’s research. Thanks to everyone’s generosity the event raised over $15,000 for this fantastic research.
